The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the termination of employment for 115 personnel in its ongoing efforts to restructure and strengthen the agency.

The move was disclosed in a statement published on Tuesday via the Service’s official website and social‑media channels.

According to the release, the sackings form part of “ongoing reforms” within the intelligence arm, aimed at enhancing accountability and internal discipline.

The Service did not elaborate in the statement on the criteria used in the dismissals, or the ranks of the personnel involved.

In addition, the DSS warned members of the public against dealing with the dismissed individuals — some of whom it says are still presenting themselves as active officers of the agency.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” the statement reads.

The statement further noted that the identities of those dismissed have been posted on the DSS website for the sake of public clarity and protection of citizens.

The agency described some of the dismissed former personnel as implicated in fraudulent use of the Service’s name to mislead or exploit unsuspecting members of the public.

In recent weeks, the DSS has publicly flagged two former officers — Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin — for impersonation and fraudulent activities using the Service’s identity.

The Service reaffirmed its commitment to basing all communications and engagements through its authorised channels — reminding the public that any claim purporting to be on its behalf should be verified.
