Popular Nigerian comedian, Oluwaseyitan Aletile, better known as Seyi Law, has stated that he also feels the effects of the economic hardship currently facing Nigerians.
In a statement shared on social media, the comedian addressed growing criticisms of his political stance and reiterated that his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general elections was based on belief, not malice.
“My fellow Nigerians, I laugh not at your pains. I feel it as much as you do. I know the cost of fuel and how much a bag of rice is,” he said.
Seyi Law maintained that his decision to vote for Tinubu was driven by conviction and a desire for positive change, not a disregard for the struggles of ordinary citizens.
“I supported Tinubu not to spite anyone but because I believed in his capacity. That belief is being tested, but I will not abandon the government I voted for,” he added.
He acknowledged the harsh economic realities across the country, expressing hope that current policies would yield results in the long term. He emphasized that while Nigerians are suffering, he is also affected by the same difficulties.
“We are all facing the consequences of policy decisions, and the suffering is real. But I still choose to believe in the possibility of a better outcome,” he noted.

The comedian also called on state governments to take more responsibility, accusing some governors of inaction despite increased federal allocations.
Seyi Law has faced public backlash in recent months over his political views, including calls by some social media users to boycott his shows. In previous statements, he defended his position and said he was prepared for criticism.
His latest remarks come as Nigeria continues to grapple with high inflation, rising food prices, and persistent fuel shortages, leaving many citizens frustrated and demanding urgent solutions from the government.
