A peace meeting between a bandit commander and government representatives in Katsina State has led to the release of 28 abductees, official sources say.

The release followed negotiations aimed at easing tension and promoting dialogue in affected communities.

According to reports, the meeting involved traditional leaders, security officials, and local government stakeholders who engaged with the bandit commander to discuss terms of release and safety guarantees. The identities or location of the abduction have not been fully disclosed.

The released abductees are reportedly safe and have been reunited with their families, though some are being treated for minor injuries sustained during captivity.

The Katsina State Government confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to reduce kidnapping and improve security in hotspots across the state.
