Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has unveiled a fleet of ambulance bikes aimed at speeding up emergency response times and circumventing traffic congestion across the metropolis.
According to the state government, the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve health emergency services, ensuring paramedics and first responders reach patients more quickly in areas where road traffic severely delays ambulances.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that the ambulance bikes will be deployed in strategic areas of Lagos State where traffic jams are most frequent, including densely populated neighbourhoods and inner-city corridors.
He emphasised that every second counts in medical emergencies, and the new service will help save lives by reducing response intervals.

The launch event included a demonstration of the ambulance bikes in action, accompanied by relevant health and emergency officials. The bikes are equipped with medical kits capable of initial life-saving interventions before a full ambulance arrives.
The governor called on residents to cooperate with traffic laws and emergency protocols to ensure the success of the program.
