Ada Eme, the winner of the 2022 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant, has declared her goal of becoming the second Nigerian to win the prestigious Miss World title. Her ambition places her in the footsteps of Agbani Darego, who in 2001 became both the first Nigerian and the first Black woman to wear the Miss World crown.

During a recent interview, Eme shared her deeply personal journey marked by multiple setbacks, determination, and a vision that refused to fade despite the odds. Reflecting on her path to victory, she revealed that it took her four attempts to finally secure the MBGN crown.

“I knew this was something I really wanted,” Eme said. “I have always had the anxiety, nerves, and excitement every time I applied. I wasn’t selected the first time, or the second, or even the third. But I didn’t give up.”

According to her, it was the story of Agbani Darego’s historic win that kept inspiring her, especially during moments of doubt. “Every time I felt like I didn’t want to do it again, I would think of Agbani Darego. She broke boundaries. And something inside me kept telling me to try one more time. So I did, and the fourth time, I got picked.”

From National Recognition to Global Aspirations

Now that she wears the MBGN crown, Eme says her focus has shifted to representing Nigeria on the international stage and clinching the coveted Miss World title.

“My focus right now is to become the second Nigerian to win Miss World,” she said with confidence.

The MBGN crown has already opened several opportunities for her, and she’s enjoying the fame and exposure that come with it. “It has opened so many doors,” she admitted, referring to the endorsements, partnerships, and public engagements she has enjoyed since her coronation.

A Story of Resilience and Inspiration

Ada Eme’s story resonates with many young Nigerians, especially aspiring beauty queens, who often face rejection and criticism in the fiercely competitive world of pageantry. Her persistence over four years to win the MBGN title serves as a testament to what can be achieved with passion and resilience.

“I always tell young girls out there—if you have a dream, don’t let ‘no’ stop you. Keep pushing. Your time will come,” she advised.

Looking Ahead to Miss World

As she prepares for the Miss World competition, Ada Eme is investing time in grooming, advocacy, and charity work—essential components of the international pageant. She has already begun working on a pet project that aligns with the “Beauty With a Purpose” theme, which the Miss World organization emphasizes.

Although she hasn’t publicly disclosed the full details of her advocacy project, she hinted that it would address pressing issues affecting young women in Nigeria, particularly around education and mental health.

If successful, Eme will not only join Agbani Darego in the history books but also reignite national pride and global admiration for Nigerian beauty queens on the world stage.
