Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is set to deliver a sermon at London’s Lambeth Palace on Thursday, marking a key highlight of President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing state visit to the United Kingdom.
Lambeth Palace, the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury and a central hub of the Church of England, will host the First Lady as part of a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties between both nations.
According to the official itinerary released by AFP, Mrs Tinubu will also hold meetings with senior representatives of the Church of England, underscoring the role of faith-based diplomacy in fostering international relations.
The visit is particularly significant as it marks Nigeria’s first state visit to the UK in nearly four decades. President Tinubu and the First Lady arrived in London on Tuesday via Stansted Airport and have since commenced a packed schedule of engagements.
Top on the agenda are bilateral talks with King Charles III and British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, alongside interactions with members of the Nigerian diaspora in the UK.
Mrs Tinubu, an ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has maintained a strong presence in faith and social advocacy, championing initiatives focused on women’s empowerment and community development.
Her scheduled sermon at Lambeth Palace is expected to further highlight the intersection of faith, leadership, and diplomacy as Nigeria deepens its relationship with the United Kingdom.
