The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has addressed questions regarding his decision not to employ female secretaries, clarifying that it is a matter of personal precaution rather than discrimination.

Speaking during a recent church service, Adeboye explained that the demands of his ministry often require him to work late into the night. To avoid situations that could lead to temptation or misunderstanding, he opted to limit his office staff to men.

He recounted that even when he previously had a female secretary—whom he described as diligent and God-fearing—late-night work hours sometimes created scenarios that could be uncomfortable or risky. For Adeboye, setting clear boundaries was essential for maintaining focus, integrity, and personal convictions.

“From the moment I reached this stage in ministry, when my work stretches into the early hours of the morning, I decided not to have a female secretary,” he said. “Some think this is gender discrimination, but I know myself and the potential risks of being alone at night with the opposite sex.”

He further shared a vivid example: “Imagine after a long day’s work, everyone has left, and it’s 2 AM. My secretary comes in to ask if I need help or a cup of tea. That could create situations I want to avoid. It’s simply a matter of caution and personal discipline.”

Adeboye emphasized that his decision is rooted in his desire to preserve boundaries, stay focused on his responsibilities, and ensure that his ministry operates with integrity, particularly during late-night hours.
