After Scrapping the Parade, Tinubu Says He Slept Well

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded the Senate for its rapid approval of General Christopher Musa (rtd) as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence, describing the confirmation as timely and crucial for the nation’s security architecture.

In a personally signed message shared on his 𝕏 account on Thursday, the President expressed satisfaction with the lawmakers’ prompt action, noting that the Senate concluded its screening process within 48 hours of receiving Musa’s nomination.

Tinubu emphasized that the former Chief of Defence Staff brings valuable experience and leadership at a moment when Nigeria is confronting significant security challenges.

“Just two days ago, I forwarded the name of General Christopher G. Musa, our immediate past Chief of Defence Staff and an exemplary officer, to the Senate for confirmation as Minister of Defence,” the President wrote.

“I commend the Nigerian Senate for confirming him yesterday with commendable speed. His leadership is coming at a defining moment for our nation’s security. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

General Musa was confirmed on Wednesday after an extensive five-hour screening session that saw senators rigorously question him on national defence strategy, operational readiness, and his vision for securing the country.

His nomination followed the resignation of former Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who stepped down due to health-related reasons.

During the screening, Musa pledged to adopt a firm, uncompromising stance against terrorism and banditry.
