Pregnant Women Among Farmers Kidnapped by Bandits in Niger State

A new wave of violence has struck Niger State as armed bandits abducted twenty farmers, including four pregnant women and several children, in Unguwan-Kawo, Erena Ward, located in Shiroro Local Government Area.

According to reports, the farmers were seized around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, while they were harvesting rice on their farms.

Witnesses described the attack as sudden and terrifying, leaving the community in shock and fear.

The latest abduction comes just six days after more than 200 students and staff were kidnapped in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, highlighting a disturbing trend of escalating insecurity in the region.

Authorities and security agencies have yet to release an official statement on efforts to rescue the victims, leaving residents anxious about the fate of those abducted.

Community members are appealing for urgent intervention, expressing deep concern for the safety of the women and children taken during the raid.
