The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline for universities to submit the Post-UTME screening scores of underage candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Frontpagenews gathered that the initial deadline of September 15 was missed by 23 out of the 71 universities selected by underage candidates. The delay affects a total of 135 underage applicants.
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement on Thursday, said the Board had shifted the final assessment date for the affected candidates in consultation with the defaulting institutions.
According to the new arrangement, public universities are expected to upload the results of the underage candidates on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) no later than September 30, 2025, while private universities have until October 31, 2025.
Some of the institutions yet to upload scores include the University of Lagos (39 candidates), Nile University Abuja (18), Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (15), University of Abuja (12), University of Uyo (9), and Federal University of Technology Owerri (8), among others.

The Board reminded all institutions of their responsibility to adhere strictly to CAPS guidelines to ensure fairness, transparency, and timely conclusion of the admission process.
JAMB also restated that underage candidates must meet higher academic requirements and undergo additional screening to qualify for admission, warning that failure by institutions to comply with the new timelines could jeopardize the admission chances of the affected students.
