Tributes as Abiola’s Wife Laid to Rest with Top Politicians in Attendance

Top political figures on Friday attended the burial of the late wife of Chief MKO Abiola, Nigeria’s acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.

The ceremony, held in Lagos, drew dignitaries including a serving minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet, former Lagos State Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Akinwunmi Ambode, as well as former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel.

Other prominent politicians, family members, and associates of the Abiola family were also present to pay their last respects.

The large turnout at the event highlighted the continued influence of the Abiola family in Nigeria’s political and social life. Tributes poured in from the dignitaries, who described the deceased as a woman of strength and resilience who supported democratic ideals.
