General Christopher Musa (Rtd), the nominee for Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, has pledged to implement a strict zero-tolerance approach against banditry and terrorism once confirmed.

The retired Chief of Defence Staff made the commitment during his senatorial screening in Abuja on Wednesday, assuring lawmakers of decisive action to tackle the country’s escalating security challenges.

“There will be zero tolerance for anything related to banditry or terrorism under my watch,” Musa told Senators.

“We are going to go out. I will ensure that the armed forces are fully deployed because security is localised, and communities must be protected.”

Firm Action Against Criminal Elements

Musa emphasized that his leadership would not shy away from using the full might of the military to confront criminal networks and terrorist groups threatening Nigeria’s stability.

His strategy, he said, would focus on proactive deployment, intelligence-led operations, and ensuring security operations reach local communities.

Nomination Comes After Defence Ministry Reshuffle

The former CDS’ nomination follows the resignation of ex-Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru. President Bola Tinubu formally submitted Musa’s name to the Senate, urging lawmakers to consider his confirmation.
