The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Ngozi Odu, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking another major shift in the state’s evolving political landscape.

Odu completed her registration into the ruling party at her polling unit in Akabuka town, Ward 8, Unit 11, within Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.

The moment drew attention from party faithful as the deputy governor burst into the popular chant, “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” a slogan widely associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Her move to the APC comes shortly after Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, also defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fubara’s defection followed a high-level meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, after which he was formally registered into the APC.

The Rivers APC Chairman, Tony Okocha, who oversaw Fubara’s registration, stated that the process was carried out on the instruction of the party’s national leadership.

In a further consolidation of power within the party, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, later announced Fubara as the party’s leader in Rivers State.
