Oyo Governor Makinde Presents Staff of Office to Ladoja in Grand Coronation

In a momentous ceremony on Friday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State officially presented the staff of office to Senator Rasheed Ladoja, recognizing him as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The event signifies the formal installation and endorsement of Ladoja’s traditional leadership in Ibadan.

The presentation of the staff of office is a symbolic and constitutional act that grants legitimacy and authority to the Olubadan as the head of Ibadan’s traditional institutions.

The ceremony drew prominent political figures, royal family members, traditional rulers, and large crowds who witnessed the transfer of authority at the Ibadan palace.

Governor Makinde, in his remarks, emphasised the role of the Olubadan in preserving cultural heritage, fostering unity, and guiding development in Ibadanland.

He expressed hope that Ladoja’s leadership would strengthen the bond between traditional institutions and the state government, promote security, and boost social cohesion.

Senator Ladoja, upon receiving the staff, pledged to be a unifying figure. He promised to respect Ibadan’s customs, promote peace among all sub-communities, and support initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, education, and welfare in Ibadanland.

The transition marks a new chapter for one of Nigeria’s largest ancient cities, as the Olubadan title carries both cultural influence and moral authority across Oyo State and beyond.
