Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has debunked reports alleging that his administration ordered the closure of all boarding secondary schools across the state.

This clarification comes nearly a week after the Commissioner for Education and Human Development, Umar Pella, reportedly announced that boarding schools were being shut down due to rising insecurity across the country.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri described the circulating reports as misleading, unfounded, and capable of causing unnecessary panic.

According to him, at no time did he instruct any ministry or official to halt school activities. He urged parents, students, and school authorities to disregard the rumours and maintain normal academic operations.

Fintiri cautioned that his administration would not hesitate to deal decisively with those deliberately spreading misinformation aimed at creating fear and destabilizing public peace.

The Governor emphasized that the state has invested heavily in overhauling the education sector and remains committed to ensuring that teaching and learning continue uninterrupted across Adamawa.

“The attention of the Adamawa State Government has been drawn to misleading information suggesting that schools have been directed to shut down,” the statement read.

“We categorically state that this claim is false. At no time did the government issue such an order. This baseless rumour is the handiwork of mischief-makers intent on tarnishing the government’s image and causing unnecessary tension.”

The statement further warned that individuals or groups spreading falsehoods would face legal consequences.

“We will not tolerate attempts to disrupt our progress in repositioning the education sector. Anyone found guilty of circulating malicious rumours will be dealt with according to the law,” it added.
