The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has reversed the indefinite suspension earlier placed on Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, after completing an internal probe into allegations of misconduct.

The decision was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement issued by the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major.

According to the NNPP, the move followed a thorough examination of findings submitted by a committee set up to investigate the allegations, which were reportedly connected to internal disputes involving Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters.

Dr. Major explained that the resolution was reached by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), in collaboration with the Founder and members of the Board of Trustees, during an emergency meeting held at the NNPP national secretariat in Abuja.

With the suspension lifted, the party confirmed that all rights, benefits and privileges previously withdrawn from Governor Yusuf have been fully reinstated.

In a significant shift, the NNPP also announced the appointment of Governor Yusuf as its National Leader, a role it described as the most senior elected position occupied by any member on the party’s platform. The party expressed confidence that Yusuf’s new role would help stabilise internal structures and boost unity as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.

The NWC further praised the governor for what it termed his boldness in confronting “imaginary powers” within the political space, while restating its earlier stance on the expulsion of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and members of the Kwankwassiya movement from the party.
