CNG: FG Confirms No Subsidy As Nigerians Face Fresh Price Hike

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has adjusted the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across its retail network in Abuja, lowering the cost to ₦930 per litre from the previous ₦945.

The downward review, implemented on Thursday, follows a fresh round of price reductions by Dangote Refinery and several major depots, which trimmed their ex-depot rates by ₦10.

A survey across key locations in the capital showed that NNPCL outlets along the Kubwa Expressway, Gwarimpa, Wuse Zone 4, Wuse Zone 6, and adjoining suburbs had all effected the new price.

The uniform adjustment marks one of the most coordinated reductions the city has witnessed in recent months.

Independent marketers have begun mirroring the trend.

At Ranoil in Gwarimpa, pump prices eased from ₦940 to ₦935, while stations under the MRS Ardova and AP Ardova brands were dispensing PMS within the ₦930–₦935 range as of Thursday afternoon.

The price moderation stems from similar reductions at major depots. Operators such as Pinnacle Depot and Aiteo Depot were selling PMS between ₦844 and ₦846 per litre—an adjustment that immediately filtered down to retail pumps.

Speaking on the development, Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), said the market could see additional price drops in the coming days.

He noted that increasing competition among suppliers is putting “sustained downward pressure” on fuel prices and could lead to further adjustments if supply conditions remain favourable.
