Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has announced she is stepping away from efforts to reconcile her colleagues, Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, following renewed tensions between the two stars.
In a lengthy Instagram post shared on Tuesday, Ojo addressed mounting criticism over her involvement in the long-running rift, making it clear she would no longer play the role of mediator.
“I have tried my best, but at this point, I can’t beg anyone anymore. I honestly don’t want to get involved,” she stated.
Reconciliation Efforts and Fallout
Ojo revealed that her relationship with Akindele spans several years, despite past disagreements. She admitted to previously criticising Akindele publicly over issues linked to Abraham’s movie—an action she now regrets.
According to her, she later reconciled with Akindele and went to great lengths to broker peace between both actresses, even pleading with them privately to settle their differences.
Her efforts initially paid off, leading to a temporary truce that saw the two stars interact publicly again. However, the peace agreement reportedly came with a condition that disagreements would be handled privately and not aired on social media.
That understanding broke down in December after Abraham raised concerns about alleged sabotage surrounding her cinema release, sparking fresh speculation among fans and reigniting the feud.
Viral Moment Sparks Fresh Debate
The controversy gained renewed traction after a viral video from a recent movie premiere in Lagos showed an apparent snub between the two actresses, further fueling online reactions and debate within the industry.
‘The Sky Is Big Enough for All’
Ojo, visibly frustrated by the situation, stressed that she holds no ill will toward either party but has chosen to distance herself moving forward.
“The sky is big enough for all. When both parties are ready, they will make peace,” she added.
She also clarified issues surrounding her upcoming film, noting that Abraham was initially cast in The Return of Arinzo but withdrew due to scheduling constraints—a development that required last-minute script adjustments.
What’s Next
While the rift between Akindele and Abraham continues to draw public attention, Ojo’s decision marks a turning point, signalling that any future reconciliation will have to come directly from both actresses.
Meanwhile, The Return of Arinzo is set to hit cinemas nationwide from April 3, adding another layer of anticipation amid the ongoing industry buzz.
