Sophia Momodu, mother of Davido’s first daughter, Imade, has addressed growing speculation that she deliberately stopped their child from attending a recent family celebration held by the Adelekes in the United States.
The family gathering, which took place over the weekend, saw Davido’s second daughter, Hailey, in attendance. Imade’s absence, however, quickly ignited debate across social media, with some users flooding Sophia’s pages to accuse her of keeping the child away from her father’s relatives.
Breaking her silence on Wednesday through an Instagram statement, Sophia said she woke up to a wave of online attacks directed at both her and her daughter following the wedding.
She emphasized that Imade is thriving, well-cared-for, and full of joy—something anyone who encounters her can clearly see.
Sophia also reaffirmed her role as Imade’s primary caregiver, noting that for the past five years she has solely handled all of the child’s needs, except school fees, which Davido’s parents have generously taken care of for the last three years.

Her statement appears aimed at clearing the air and countering what she described as false narratives circulating about her intentions and her relationship with the Adelekes.
