Residents of Akunza community in Ashige, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, were plunged into fear on Tuesday night after suspected gunmen stormed the area during a traditional wedding ceremony.
The attack occurred while celebrations were still underway, triggering chaos as guests and locals ran for safety. Eyewitnesses described a tense scene as the sudden invasion brought the festive gathering to an abrupt halt.
Confirming the incident, a youth leader in the community told reporters that at least three people lost their lives, while several others were injured. According to him, some of the victims include women and children who are currently receiving treatment at a nearby health facility.
