Former Lagos governorship candidate Babatunde Gbadamosi tells Nigerians to “arm yourselves” — post draws attention amid insecurity.

Babatunde Gbadamosi, a former governorship candidate in Lagos State, has called on Nigerians to arm themselves to guard against terrorists, posting a message on 𝕏 that explicitly urged citizens to buy and learn to use a range of weapons.

In the post, Gbadamosi wrote: “Dear Nigerians, Arm Yourselves. Buy Crossbows. Buy AK-47 rifles. Buy GPMGs. Buy RPG Launchers.

Buy LAVs – they are made in Nigeria. Buy Drones. Learn to use them. Resist ANY attempt to disarm you. Anybody who tries to disarm you wants you to be murdered.

Age is no excuse. Gender is no excuse. Religion is no excuse.

If you refuse, your death at the hands of Fulani Muslim Jihadist Terrorists will be your own fault. #TakeYourFitnessSeriously.”

The post, which directly names specific weapons and warns against disarmament, was framed by Gbadamosi as a response to ongoing insecurity and bandit attacks in parts of the country.

The comments — which call for private arming and explicitly reference a particular group of attackers — raise immediate questions about public safety, the responsibilities of public figures when discussing security, and the legal framework governing acquisition and use of firearms and other weapons.
