Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s recent assertion that Nigeria’s security challenges have been largely addressed.

In his statement, Kukah emphasized that the nation continues to grapple with significant security threats.

Kukah highlighted the persistent nature of these threats, stating, “The security situation in Nigeria remains dire, with numerous regions experiencing ongoing violence and instability.”

He called for a comprehensive and sustained effort to address the underlying causes of insecurity and to implement effective measures to protect citizens across the country.

The bishop’s comments come amid escalating concerns over various security issues, including kidnappings, armed banditry, and communal clashes, which have affected communities in both urban and rural areas.
