The 24 students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State have been successfully rescued, security sources confirmed on Tuesday.
The girls were taken during an early-morning attack that sparked nationwide outrage and renewed calls for stronger protection of schools across the North-West. According to earlier reports, the gunmen struck at about 5:52 a.m., firing shots as the students prepared for morning activities.
The attackers reportedly overpowered the security personnel on duty, seizing several girls and escaping into the surrounding forest.
Although details of the rescue operation remain limited as of press time, multiple security insiders say the students are now safe and an official statement from authorities is expected later tonight.
