AltSchool Africa, a fast-growing Nigerian educational technology company, broadened its academic offerings in October 2022 to cater to the increasing demand for diverse technology skills across the continent. Initially launched with a focus on software engineering, the startup introduced three new specialized tracks: data, product, and product marketing, reflecting the evolving requirements of Africa’s digital economy.
Surging Interest from Learners Drives Expansion
The decision followed an overwhelming response to its inaugural program, which received more than 9,000 applications within months of launch. By accepting about half of those applicants, AltSchool identified a strong appetite for accessible, career-aligned tech education. Each course, designed to equip students for in-demand roles, remains affordably priced—around $30 monthly—to ensure inclusivity and broad participation.
Positioning for the Future of Work in Africa
This expansion comes at a time when the continent’s technology sector is experiencing exponential growth. Companies are increasingly in need of skilled professionals in areas such as product design, data science, and digital marketing. AltSchool’s proactive approach aims to bridge this skills gap and prepare young Africans for high-value roles in both local and global job markets.
A Strategic Leap in Tech Education
By diversifying its curriculum and embracing a wider range of tech disciplines, AltSchool Africa has cemented its place as a leading force in training Africa’s future digital workforce. Its student-first model, focus on job-readiness, and adaptive learning structure ensure it remains aligned with the fast-changing needs of the tech industry.
