Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed confidence that Iran’s Islamic republic will ultimately collapse from within, even as he insisted that regime change is not the immediate objective of the ongoing US-Israeli military campaign.

Speaking in an interview with conservative US broadcaster Newsmax on Monday, Netanyahu said current operations are focused on weakening Iran’s strategic capabilities rather than directly toppling its government.

“I think this regime will collapse internally,” he stated. “But at the moment, what we’re doing is degrading their military capacity, missile systems, and nuclear capabilities, while also weakening them from within.”

His remarks come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, as joint US-Israeli actions continue to target Iran’s defence infrastructure and strategic assets.

Netanyahu maintained that the campaign is aimed at neutralising perceived threats posed by Iran, particularly its missile programme and nuclear ambitions, which Israel has long identified as critical security concerns.

The Israeli leader’s comments are likely to further heighten geopolitical tensions, as global attention remains fixed on the potential implications of the conflict for regional stability and international security.
