Fernandez Fully Committed to Chelsea Despite Exit Talk — Rosenior
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has dismissed concerns over Enzo Fernandez’s future, insisting the midfielder remains “completely committed” to the club despite recent comments that sparked speculation.
Fernandez had raised doubts earlier this week following Chelsea’s heavy Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain, where the Blues suffered a 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge to crash out 8-2 on aggregate.
Speaking after the match, the Argentina international hinted that the remainder of the season could mark his final appearances for the club, fuelling uncertainty over his long-term future.
Rosenior Moves to Calm Tensions
However, Rosenior revealed he held direct talks with the 25-year-old midfielder and came away reassured.
“I had a great conversation with Enzo this morning,” he said. “He made it clear how happy he is here, how much he wants to win, and how passionate he is about this football club.”
According to the Chelsea boss, Fernandez explained that his earlier remarks were misinterpreted due to emotion and translation issues.
“He is completely committed to Chelsea,” Rosenior added.
Contract and Context
Fernandez, who joined Chelsea in 2023 for a then British-record £107 million fee, still has five years remaining on his contract, making any immediate exit unlikely.
Despite the speculation, the club views him as a key figure in their long-term project.
Dressing Room Leak Identified
Rosenior also confirmed that the club has identified the source of leaked team selections ahead of both matches against PSG.
“We know who it was. It wasn’t malicious, and the situation has been handled,” he said.
Injury Updates Ahead of Everton Clash
Chelsea also provided updates on key injuries ahead of their Premier League trip to Everton.
Defender Trevoh Chalobah is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury, though the damage is less severe than initially feared.
Meanwhile, captain Reece James will miss the upcoming fixture due to a minor hamstring issue, which Rosenior described as “not serious.”
With the season entering a decisive phase, Chelsea will be looking to steady their campaign—backed by renewed clarity over Fernandez’s commitment.
