PDP Accuses APC of Suppressing Free Speech, Targeting Opposition Ahead of 2027 Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of stifling free expression and deliberately weakening opposition parties as part of a broader political strategy ahead of the 2027 general election.

Reacting to a recent statement by Amnesty International warning of an increasingly hostile environment for dissent in Nigeria, the PDP said the concerns raised by the rights group confirm what the opposition has long maintained but which, according to the party, has often been dismissed as partisan exaggeration.

Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, praised Amnesty International for lending international credibility to what he described as persistent democratic abuses under the current administration.

According to Ememobong, the APC-led government treats criticism as a threat rather than a contribution to governance.

He alleged that individuals and political actors who refuse to align with the ruling party are routinely subjected to intimidation and pressure.

“This government does not tolerate dissent,” he said. “Any opposing view is seen as an enemy position, not as constructive engagement. That is why there is a deliberate attempt to coerce politicians across party lines into joining the APC.”

Ememobong further claimed that the ruling party has extended its influence into virtually all major political parties, with the goal of clearing the field for President Bola Tinubu to seek re-election without serious competition in 2027.

He pointed to internal disputes and divisions within opposition parties such as the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the Labour Party, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as evidence of what he described as systematic interference.

Despite these challenges, the PDP spokesperson expressed confidence that the opposition would regroup and regain strength. He said the party is already undergoing internal reforms aimed at repositioning it as a credible alternative.

“There is a rebirth happening,” Ememobong stated. “The PDP is renewing itself, and the opposition as a whole will rise again.”

He also expressed disappointment with President Tinubu’s leadership, noting that the president was once celebrated for his role in Nigeria’s democratic struggles while in opposition.

“Those democratic credentials are being eroded,” he said. “The president should reflect on what it means to lose that legacy while also failing to deliver meaningful results in office.”

Ememobong argued that Nigerians are no longer swayed by campaign promises but are increasingly focused on the realities of governance, particularly the growing economic hardship faced by citizens.

“The people are watching performance, not rhetoric,” he said. “What they see today is widespread impoverishment.”

He concluded by asserting that the next general election would not simply be a contest between political parties, but a broader confrontation between the ruling APC and the Nigerian populace.

Regina Daniels’ Brother Arrested In Lagos

Sammy Daniels, the younger brother of Nollywood star Regina Daniels, has reportedly been taken into police custody following an incident that played out during a live social media broadcast.

The arrest occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos. Sammy was said to be in the company of a friend when law enforcement officers approached them. Viewers watching the live video reportedly witnessed the tense moment before the broadcast suddenly went offline.

As of the time of this report, the reason for Sammy Daniels’ arrest has not been officially disclosed. Neither the Nigeria Police Force nor Regina Daniels has issued a formal statement addressing the incident.

The development comes amid an escalating public disagreement within the Daniels family. During a recent Instagram Live session, Regina Daniels alleged that her husband, billionaire businessman and politician Senator Ned Nwoko, was responsible for her brother’s arrest.

Regina also dismissed claims circulating online that her family stole $40,000 from Nwoko. She insisted that the allegation was false, adding that her husband does not keep large sums of cash at home.

Meanwhile, Senator Ned Nwoko has responded to the controversy through his media team, releasing documents and messages aimed at countering claims made by his wife.

The materials include a WhatsApp message dated October 17, alongside medical and therapy records, as well as statements from household staff.

The senator’s team strongly denied allegations of domestic abuse, describing them as an attempt to divert attention from what they termed long-standing health and behavioural concerns. They further claimed that independent toxicology tests revealed the presence and misuse of multiple substances, which they say had been privately flagged months before the matter became public.

Arms Discovery at Kebbi Home Triggers New DSS Investigation of Malami

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), remains behind bars at the Kuje Correctional Centre after failing to satisfy the bail conditions granted by a Federal High Court, as a new security investigation deepens his legal predicament.

According to reports, Malami, who was granted bail alongside his son, Abdulaziz, and his wife, Asabe Bashir, has not perfected the court’s conditions, preventing his release from custody. Developments indicate that his continued detention is now complicated by a separate probe involving alleged arms and ammunition discovered at his residence in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

Sources familiar with the matter disclosed that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), while conducting a search on the property, allegedly recovered weapons and ammunition.

However, given that offences relating to illegal arms possession fall outside the EFCC’s jurisdiction, the items were reportedly transferred to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation.

Although details regarding the quantity and type of weapons recovered remain unclear, security sources described the discovery as significant enough to trigger an extensive DSS investigation.

Insiders within the security community suggested that Malami may be intentionally delaying the completion of his bail requirements to avoid an immediate arrest by the DSS over the arms-related allegations.

“Malami appears to be slowing down the bail process because DSS operatives are on standby to take him into custody once he is released, possibly over terrorism-related concerns,” a senior security source alleged.

Another source confirmed that the former minister is currently under scrutiny for the alleged possession of arms at his Kebbi residence, adding that the DSS now expects Malami to account for how the weapons came into his possession.

It was further gathered that DSS operatives have reportedly reinforced their presence around the Kuje Correctional Centre, leading to heightened security within and around the facility.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has dismissed claims circulating on social media that Malami had been released and had returned to Kebbi State. An official of the commission confirmed that the former Attorney-General remains in custody after failing to meet bail conditions.

“As of our records, Malami is still in detention. We have seen several misleading videos and claims online suggesting he was welcomed back to Kebbi, but those reports are false,” the source stated.

The EFCC also clarified that investigations into Malami’s conduct did not begin recently. According to the commission, the probe dates back to 2019, during the tenure of former Acting EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Magu, and continued under subsequent leaderships, including that of Ibrahim Chukkol, before reaching the current administration.

“The investigation is not personal or politically motivated,” the source said. “It is an inherited case that has followed due process over the years, and Malami is fully aware of this.”

As investigations continue on multiple fronts, the former justice minister’s legal challenges appear far from over, with both financial crime allegations and security-related concerns now converging around his case.

EFCC Proposes ₦3.2bn for Cleaning, Meals and Fuel in 2026 Budget

Fresh details from the 2026 federal budget proposal have shown that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) plans to spend more than ₦3.2 billion on non-capital items such as cleaning, meals, fuel and power-related services in the coming fiscal year.

The spending breakdown is contained in the 2026 Appropriation Bill submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the National Assembly on December 19 and listed under the Presidency segment of the budget. Documents obtained from the Budget Office of the Federation outline significant allocations for the anti-graft agency’s recurrent needs.

According to the figures, the EFCC has set aside about ₦278.6 million for cleaning and fumigation, while meals and refreshments are expected to cost ₦722 million. Energy-related expenses account for the largest portion of the estimate, with ₦1.02 billion proposed for vehicle fuel and an additional ₦1.2 billion for generator fuelling.

Taken together, these items alone push the commission’s projected spending on cleaning, food and energy services beyond ₦3.2 billion for 2026.

The budget proposal also reflects other substantial overhead costs. The EFCC plans to allocate ₦170.5 million for drugs and medical supplies, ₦376.5 million for the maintenance of vehicles and transport equipment, and ₦46 million for office furniture repairs. In addition, ₦1.5 billion is earmarked for the upkeep of office buildings and residential quarters, while ₦159.8 million is proposed for maintaining office and IT equipment.

The broader 2026 budget outlines total federal spending of ₦58.18 trillion, including ₦15.52 trillion dedicated to debt servicing. With projected revenues estimated at ₦34.33 trillion, the proposal leaves a funding gap of ₦23.85 trillion, which the Federal Government intends to cover through a combination of local and external borrowing.

The EFCC is among several government agencies whose recurrent expenditure provisions have drawn attention as lawmakers intensify scrutiny of the budget at the National Assembly.

Concerns Over Recurrent Spending

Commenting on the figures, governance and public policy analysts raised concerns about what they described as persistent and inflated overhead costs across ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs). They warned that such spending habits undermine fiscal discipline and limit the government’s capacity to deliver meaningful services to citizens.

Speaking to Daily Trust, the Executive Director of the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, Comrade Debo Adeniran, said the allocations reflect a longstanding culture of waste in public sector budgeting.

“We have consistently complained about the profligacy embedded in the system. The same items appear in budgets every year—office renovations, furniture, and similar expenditures—repeated endlessly. It creates room for misuse of public funds,” he said.

Adeniran added that recurrent expenses are often structured to prioritise the comfort of officials rather than public interest.

Similarly, political scientist Dr. Kabiru Sa’id Sufi noted that overhead costs are steadily consuming a disproportionate share of government spending.

“Overhead expenditure is taking up too much of the budget, which should not be the case. What we see sometimes is a recycled budget with minor adjustments. The repeated appearance of the same items suggests weak implementation or that many of these expenses are not truly necessary,” he said.

Edo Govt Postpones School Resumption in Edo Central Over Rising Violence

The Edo State Government has announced a temporary delay in the resumption of academic activities for all public and private schools across the Edo Central Senatorial District, citing security concerns following recent violent incidents in the area.

The decision was made public on Monday by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, who explained that the move is a precautionary step aimed at safeguarding students, teachers, and school administrators while the government addresses emerging security challenges.

According to Iyamu, the suspension of school resumption will remain in effect until further notice. He noted that the government requires time to respond to urgent issues and put measures in place to enhance the safety and welfare of pupils within the affected district.

“The postponement is to allow the state government address certain exigencies necessary to improve the welfare and safety of our pupils. A new resumption date will be communicated in due course,” the commissioner stated.

He also called on parents, guardians, and other stakeholders in the education sector to take note of the directive and cooperate fully with the authorities.

The development comes amid heightened tension in Edo Central following a violent episode in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area. The unrest reportedly began on Saturday after residents staged a peaceful protest to draw attention to increasing cases of kidnapping and the killing of a young man the previous night.

What started as a calm demonstration later degenerated when miscreants allegedly infiltrated the protest. The situation escalated as a major highway was blocked and traders at a livestock market were attacked. Eyewitnesses reported that animals were injured and killed during the chaos, with disturbing scenes later circulating widely on social media.

The crisis further intensified with the reported vandalisation of the palace of the Onojie of Ekpoma, Zaiki Anthony Abumere II, an incident that drew strong condemnation from Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Confirming the unrest, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, disclosed that one individual was shot by a soldier during the disturbance. He added that the matter has been referred to military authorities for a thorough investigation.

The violence triggered widespread fear, forcing residents and traders to flee the area before security agencies were deployed to restore order.

Outrage as Katsina Moves to Free 70 Banditry Suspects Under Peace Deal

The Katsina State Government has justified its plan to secure the release of about 70 individuals standing trial for banditry-related offences, arguing that the move is crucial to sustaining ongoing peace agreements with armed groups operating across the state.

The proposed release has generated intense public backlash after a confidential letter from the Katsina State Ministry of Justice surfaced online, revealing efforts to obtain judicial backing for the release of the suspects currently facing prosecution in various courts.

Reacting to the controversy, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Muazu, said the decision was driven by the need to preserve fragile peace deals reached between affected communities and what the government describes as repentant bandits.

Speaking during an interview with DCL Hausa on Saturday, Muazu said the peace initiatives had already produced measurable results, including the freedom of nearly 1,000 abducted persons.

According to him, at least 15 local government areas participated in the peace process, which he said led to a noticeable decline in attacks and the release of kidnapped residents.

“These peace agreements have directly led to the release of close to 1,000 abducted persons across several local governments,” Muazu said.

He defended the planned release by drawing parallels with post-war prisoner exchanges globally, insisting that such measures are not unusual in conflict resolution.

“Across the world, after conflicts, prisoner exchanges are common. It happened during Nigeria’s civil war and even in negotiations involving Boko Haram,” he stated.

“The focus is not about debating whether offences were committed but about securing lasting peace.”

Muazu also maintained that the Ministry of Justice and the judiciary acted within the bounds of the law, adding that anyone opposed to the decision could pursue legal remedies.

The controversy followed a report by Sahara Reporters which published a letter written by the Katsina State Ministry of Justice to the state’s Chief Judge. The letter sought the intervention of the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee to facilitate the release of the suspects.

The correspondence, signed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Abdur-Rahman Umar, disclosed that 48 suspects accused of banditry had been submitted to the Ministry of Justice by the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.

It explained that their release was a key condition for maintaining peace agreements signed between bandit leaders and frontline local government areas affected by violence.

While some of the suspects are being tried at the Federal High Court, others are facing cases in various magistrates’ courts across the state. An additional list containing about 22 inmates undergoing trial at different state high courts was also forwarded for consideration under the same peace arrangement.

The ministry urged the Chief Judge to take appropriate steps, citing Section 371(2) of the Katsina State Administration of Criminal Justice Law (2021), which outlines the responsibilities of the Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee.

Breakdown of Released Abductees

Muazu provided figures showing the number of abducted persons freed following the peace deals, including: Sabuwa (310), Bakori (125), Danmusa (60), Dutsinma (62), and Safana (36).

He insisted that the government’s actions were motivated solely by the need to save lives and restore stability in communities ravaged by years of violence.

Meanwhile, a list obtained by Katsina Times revealed that among the 70 suspects proposed for release is at least one woman. Some of the names listed include Hadiza Dije Hauwa’u (Safana), Gambo Zubairu (Faskari), Muntari Yusuf (Safana), Yakubu Alhaji Ardo, Tukur Amadu (Liman), Idi Salisu Gaddi, Abdulhayatu Jabiru, Ya’u Buhari, and Amadu Rufa’i Anare.

Rights Groups, Experts Raise Alarm

The plan has, however, attracted strong criticism from human rights advocates and security analysts.

Speaking to Daily Trust, the head of the Network for Justice, Abdullahi Hassan Kofar Sauri, urged the government to prioritise compensation for victims and families affected by bandit attacks.

He criticised both state and federal authorities for previously denying involvement in negotiations with bandits, despite now seeking the release of convicted individuals.

“These bandits were tried, convicted and placed in correctional facilities. Suddenly releasing them under a peace deal raises serious concerns,” he said.

He questioned the safety of victims and witnesses, asking how communities could feel secure when individuals convicted of crimes such as murder or arson are released.

Kofar Sauri also faulted the absence of clear compensation plans for victims’ families, stressing the need for justice and restitution.

A security expert, Yahuza Getso, also warned that releasing the suspects could further destabilise Katsina State and the wider North-West.

He described the move as insincere and potentially dangerous, alleging that some political leaders had previously provided logistical support to bandits under the guise of peace efforts.

“This approach signals weakness and undermines the fight against banditry,” Getso said.

The debate comes amid renewed attacks in parts of Katsina State. Last week, gunmen invaded several communities in Malumfashi Local Government Area, killing eight people and abducting others. The affected villages included Unguwar Alhaji Barau, Gidan Dan Mai-gizo, and Gidan Hazo.

As of November last year, 18 of the state’s 34 local government areas had entered peace agreements with bandits. While some communities experienced temporary calm, others continue to face violent attacks, raising doubts about the long-term effectiveness of the deals.

Emmanuella Speaks Out After Carter Efe Claims He’s Been Single for Over a Year

Emmanuella, the mother of Nigerian streamer Carter Efe’s child, has finally addressed the controversy that followed his recent claim that he has been single for more than a year.

According to reports, Emmanuella shared an emotional video on Instagram explaining that she never intended to air her personal affairs publicly.

However, she said she felt compelled to speak after seeing how the narrative about their relationship was portrayed online.

She revealed that Carter Efe’s statement came as a shock to her, particularly his assertion that they had been apart for over a year. While admitting that they were not officially in a relationship, Emmanuella said they remained close until recently and were intimate only days before his public post, making his claim confusing and painful.

Emmanuella noted that the situation was especially hurtful because they share a child together. She accused the streamer of being overly controlling and interfering with her personal ambitions and career choices.

According to her, she studied medical anatomy with the intention of working in a hospital, but said Carter Efe discouraged her from pursuing the path, alleging that she would engage in inappropriate relationships with doctors. She further claimed that her aspiration to become an actress was also shut down due to his lack of support.

The mother of one also alleged that Carter Efe frequently reminded her that her online visibility was tied to him and that he could take it away at any time. She claimed he contacted her shortly before making his post, warning that he would release damaging information about her and destroy her public image.

Following the post, Emmanuella said she felt emotionally exhausted and struggled to understand why such statements were made publicly. While she acknowledged that Carter Efe had the right to say they were no longer together, she insisted that attacking her character online was unfair.

She also disputed his implication of long-term separation, stating that she still has to personally reach out to him before he provides financial support for their child.

Emmanuella concluded by saying the entire experience pushed her to finally speak out, not to fuel drama, but to defend herself and set the record straight.

Third Mainland Bridge Gets ₦40bn CCTV Upgrade: 5 Ways It Will Change Life in Lagos

For decades, the Third Mainland Bridge has been more than concrete and steel. It is Lagos in motion — chaotic, relentless, unpredictable. Every morning and night, hundreds of thousands of lives pass through it, often at terrifying speeds, with little oversight and even less accountability.

Now, that era may be ending.

With the Federal Government’s official launch of a ₦40 billion high-tech CCTV control centre, the Third Mainland Bridge has entered a new chapter — one that promises safety, order, and surveillance on a scale Nigeria has never seen before.

Supporters say it’s a long-overdue leap into modern infrastructure. Critics whisper words like “Big Brother”, “waste of money”, and “selective enforcement.”

But love it or hate it, one thing is clear: life on the Third Mainland Bridge is about to change.

Here are five major benefits Lagosians should expect — and why they matter more than we think.

1. Reckless Driving Finally Has Witnesses

For years, the bridge has doubled as an unofficial racetrack. Speed limits are ignored, dangerous overtaking is routine, and accidents are often blamed on “mysterious circumstances.”

That excuse is gone.

With real-time CCTV coverage, every reckless driver now has an audience — and potentially, evidence against them. Speeding, dangerous lane changes, and hit-and-run incidents can now be tracked, recorded, and acted upon.

This is not just about punishment. It’s about deterrence.

When drivers know they are being watched, behavior changes. And on a bridge where one mistake can kill dozens, that alone could save countless lives.

2. Suicide Attempts Can Be Stopped Before It’s Too Late

This is the benefit few people like to talk about — but it may be the most important.

The Third Mainland Bridge has quietly become one of Nigeria’s most notorious suicide spots. Too often, tragedies unfold unseen until it’s too late.

The new control centre allows security agencies to spot distress signals early — loitering, strange movements, or attempts to climb barriers — and intervene immediately using patrol teams and surveillance boats.

This is not about policing emotions. It’s about giving people a second chance at life.

For a city battling mental health stigma, this silent intervention could become one of the project’s greatest legacies.

3. Traffic Chaos Will No Longer Be a Mystery

Every Lagosian knows the frustration:

You enter the bridge smoothly… then suddenly, everything stops. No accident. No visible cause. Just gridlock.

Now, traffic managers can see problems as they happen — broken-down vehicles, minor collisions, flooding, or suspicious activity — and respond instantly.

With live feeds, patrol vans, and coordinated response units, delays can be resolved faster, and diversions can be planned intelligently.

4. Infrastructure Failure Won’t Catch Us Unaware Again

One of the most shocking revelations from the Minister of Works was this: serious deterioration existed above and below the waterline before the current rehabilitation.

In plain terms, disaster was lurking — unseen.

The new surveillance system doesn’t just watch cars and people; it monitors structural integrity, including underwater components.

Early warning signs can now be detected before they turn into catastrophic failures.

For a bridge that carries the economic heartbeat of Lagos, this alone justifies the investment.

Because the real cost is not ₦40 billion —

it’s the price of collapse.

5. A Test Case for Nigeria’s Future — or Another Elite Project?

Here’s where the controversy deepens.

No other bridge in Nigeria has this level of surveillance. Not in Abuja. Not in Port Harcourt. Not in the East or North.

Is the Third Mainland Bridge a pilot project for nationwide modernization, or just another example of Lagos-centric development?

If it works — really works — Lagosians may be the first beneficiaries of a smarter, safer Nigeria.

If it fails, critics will say ₦40 billion went into screens, generators, and solar panels while other roads crumble.

The bridge has become more than infrastructure.

It’s a national experiment.

Watched, But Safer?

The Third Mainland Bridge CCTV project raises uncomfortable questions about surveillance, governance, and trust. But it also offers something Lagos desperately needs: order in the middle of chaos.

Also Read: 2027 Polls: INEC Chairman Says Commission Will Set New Standard for Elections

Whether this becomes a life-saving innovation or a symbol of wasted potential depends on one thing — how seriously it is managed and enforced.

For now, Lagosians should know this:

The bridge is watching.

And for the first time in a long time, it might actually be watching for you.

FG Commissions ₦40bn CCTV Control Centre for Third Mainland Bridge

The Federal Government has officially launched a ₦40 billion high-tech CCTV control centre for the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, marking a major step toward improving security, regulating traffic, and preventing tragic incidents on one of Nigeria’s busiest bridges.

The newly inaugurated facility is designed to allow real-time monitoring of activities on and around the bridge, helping security agencies tackle issues such as reckless driving and attempted suicides. The project forms part of broader infrastructure upgrades ordered by President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony on Sunday, Minister of Works, David Umahi, said the administration inherited severe structural and safety challenges across several key bridges in Lagos, including the Third Mainland Bridge, Carter Bridge and Iddo Bridge.

According to Umahi, extensive deterioration was discovered not only on the bridge surfaces but also in critical components above and below the waterline when the government assumed office in 2023.

He explained that President Tinubu subsequently directed a comprehensive reassessment and full rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge, including the replacement of expansion joints and resurfacing works.

“The response from Lagos residents has been very positive because the quality of the rehabilitation speaks for itself,” Umahi said, adding that the completed work has continued to perform well since its commissioning.

The minister praised China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for delivering the project to standard, noting that the contract went beyond road repairs to include advanced security infrastructure.

As part of the arrangement, Umahi revealed that security assets provided under the project — including a surveillance boat and two Hilux patrol vehicles — would be handed over to the Nigeria Police Force to enhance monitoring and response on the bridge. He added that other security agencies could be integrated into the operation if required.

Umahi also raised concerns about frequent cases of excessive speeding on the bridge and appealed to motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent accidents.

Earlier, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olufemi Dare, described the newly unveiled control centre as a landmark development, noting that no other bridge in the country currently has such an extensive surveillance system.

He explained that the facility allows for continuous monitoring of the bridge structure, its traffic flow, and even underwater components, making it a first-of-its-kind deployment in Nigeria.

Dare listed the infrastructure installed at the control centre to include a surveillance boat, two Hilux vans, 240 solar panels, 10 inverters, a 300KVA transformer, a backup power generator and multiple live-monitoring screens. He added that the project also covers 1,268 solar-powered street lights and a borehole system.

The Federal Controller disclosed that the contract was awarded at a total cost of ₦40.17 billion, with ₦36 billion already disbursed to the contractor.

Umahi noted that Sunday’s event marked only the initial phase of the project’s commissioning. He said additional installations would be unveiled upon the completion of ongoing extension works on the bridge, promising a more comprehensive commissioning ceremony in the near future.

‘God Don’t Let Me Die Young’ – Portable’s Emotional Plea Raises Concern

Popular Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has triggered widespread reactions online after posting a deeply emotional message amid his ongoing legal troubles.

The controversial artiste took to his Instagram story to offer a heartfelt prayer, pleading with God to spare his life. In the emotional post, Portable expressed fear of dying young and begged that his wife and children should not be left behind to endure hardship.

“God save me. Please don’t let me die young because of my wife and my kids. God, don’t let them suffer,” the singer wrote.

The post surfaced shortly after Portable was reportedly taken into police custody following a complaint lodged by his baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple. The arrest comes after weeks of heated exchanges between the two, during which they publicly accused each other of various offenses across social media platforms.

A video circulating online captured the dramatic moment officers attempted to arrest the singer. In the footage, Portable appeared visibly distressed, shouting and resisting as onlookers tried to calm him down.

This development follows an earlier incident in which Portable narrowly avoided arrest after a confrontation with Ashabi Simple. That encounter allegedly occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the singer’s bar located in Ogun State.

Another video from that day showed a tense exchange between the pair. Ashabi, who is often referred to publicly as one of Portable’s baby mamas, was seen angrily rejecting the label and insisting that she should be recognized as his wife instead.
