Abaribe Predicts Tinubu’s Defeat in 2027, Questions 2023 Election Outcome
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents Abia South Senatorial District, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not secure a second term in office, predicting that Nigerians will vote him out in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Monday during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television, the lawmaker dismissed claims that President Tinubu has an undefeated electoral record. He argued that no politician is immune to electoral loss and insisted that the current administration is already facing widespread public dissatisfaction.
According to Abaribe, the economic hardship and social pressures experienced by Nigerians under the present government have created deep frustration among citizens, which he believes will reflect at the polls in 2027.
“I don’t agree with the idea that anyone never loses elections. Everyone does, and the time will come,” he said. “Tinubu will lose in 2027 because I understand what Nigerians are going through and how they feel.”
The senator also reignited debate over the 2023 presidential election, maintaining that Tinubu did not genuinely win the contest, despite being declared the victor.
“Everyone knows he didn’t win the 2023 election,” Abaribe claimed. “But once he was declared president, we accepted it and moved on. We acknowledged him as president, but we will meet him again on the field.”
He further suggested that future elections would be more fiercely contested, noting that opposition forces and the general public are now more alert and prepared than before.
“This time, people are ready. The opposition is ready, and the masses are even more ready,” he added, hinting that the next election would not be decided under controversial circumstances.
