The Federal Ministry of Education has introduced a major nationwide e-learning programme, Inspire Live(s), designed to bring real-time virtual classes to learners across the country.
The initiative, unveiled on Tuesday by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, marks a significant step in Nigeria’s push toward inclusive, technology-driven education under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the ministry, Inspire Live(s) was developed to confront long-standing barriers in the education sector—ranging from inadequate numbers of qualified teachers to frequent disruptions that hinder continuous learning.
By streaming live, interactive lessons directly to schools and homes, the programme aims to place every child, regardless of location or background, within reach of quality instruction.
Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that the programme has already moved into full implementation.
He noted that although the rollout is still in progress, it will eventually cover the entire spectrum of basic and secondary education—from Primary 1 through Senior Secondary School 3.
For now, the Inspire online platform is actively hosting classes for Junior and Senior Secondary School students. Lessons run Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., delivered by certified master teachers using the Cisco Webex platform.
Junior Secondary School subjects currently available include Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, ICT, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies.
Senior Secondary School learners can access courses such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English Language, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing/Catering Craft, Civic Education, and Automobile Mechanics.
To ensure smooth nationwide adoption, the Federal Ministry of Education has directed all State Commissioners for Education to carry out a series of preparatory actions.
These include appointing State Focal Officers to oversee the Inspire Live(s) programme, relaying all necessary information to both public and private school principals, and ensuring that selected schools are equipped with essential ICT tools and reliable internet connectivity.
The ministry added that registration for the programme will be handled exclusively through school principals using official Inspire support channels. Importantly, the initiative is not limited to government-owned institutions; all schools—public or private—are eligible to participate.
