The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed reports circulating online suggesting that a new recruitment exercise for the Nigeria Police Force has begun.

In a statement issued by its Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Njoku Kalu, the Commission raised the alarm over a fraudulent recruitment portal currently making the rounds on social media. Kalu cautioned Nigerians to be vigilant and avoid falling prey to recruitment scams disguised as official announcements.

According to him, no recruitment process is underway, and the PSC has not launched any portal for such purposes.

“The Police Service Commission wishes to clearly state that there is no ongoing recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force. The Commission has not opened any portal for that purpose,” the statement emphasized.

The PSC urged the public to rely strictly on official communication channels for accurate updates, stressing that any website or link not published on the Commission’s verified platform should be regarded as fraudulent and promptly reported to law enforcement.

“Members of the public are strongly advised to ignore these misleading announcements. Any recruitment portal not featured on our official website is fake and intended to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians,” the Commission warned.

The clarification comes shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a national security emergency and unveiled sweeping measures aimed at strengthening the nation’s security architecture.

In a statement personally endorsed by the President, he outlined several directives including:

* Immediate large-scale recruitment into the Armed Forces and the Police.

* An additional 20,000 officers to be enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force, pushing the overall expansion target to 50,000.

* The conversion of NYSC orientation camps into supplementary training grounds for new police recruits.

Despite these presidential directives, the PSC insists that recruitment will only commence after due process, and any official exercise will be publicly announced through legitimate channels.
