Celebrity nightlife promoter Okechukwu Pascal, popularly known as Cubana ChiefPriest, has issued a fiery reaction to the life imprisonment verdict handed down to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu was convicted of terrorism on Thursday by a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice James Omotosho. The ruling has since sparked intense debate nationwide—none louder than the outburst from Cubana ChiefPriest.
ChiefPriest Warns Tinubu of 2027 Backlash
In a strongly worded Instagram post, ChiefPriest accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of alienating the Southeast through Kanu’s continued detention. He warned that without Kanu’s release, Tinubu should not expect meaningful electoral support from the region in the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, the political climate in the Southeast has been severely destabilized by Kanu’s imprisonment, which he described as a major setback for the people.
Southeastern Ministers Called “Useless”
The nightlife mogul did not hold back in his criticism of the president’s appointees from the region. He labeled Tinubu’s Southeast ministers as “useless” and accused them of failing to communicate the true mood of their people to the president.
He argued that these officials lacked influence at home and could not alter public sentiment in favor of the current administration.
Appeal to Tinubu and Hope Uzodinma
ChiefPriest urged President Tinubu to reevaluate those advising him, insisting that many of the individuals around the president—including some from the Southeast—are only interested in personal gain.
He also directed an emotional plea to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, asking him to take decisive steps to secure Kanu’s freedom. He warned that the governor’s accomplishments would be overshadowed if he failed to act at this critical moment.
“Only Kanu’s Release Can Save You” — ChiefPriest
In his lengthy post, ChiefPriest claimed that Nnamdi Kanu remains the most influential figure in the Southeast, asserting that Tinubu’s political fate in the region is tied to Kanu’s freedom.
He emphasized that the president’s previous gestures toward him—including access to the Aso Villa—would not prevent him from speaking the truth.
He also criticized Tinubu’s decision to skip the commissioning of infrastructure projects in Abia State, birthplace of Nnamdi Kanu, and instead sending a minister he described as incompetent.

Quoting him in part, he wrote: “As long as MNK remains in jail, you will not get up to 10,000 votes in the Southeast in 2027. Only his release can save you. Southeast belongs to him. Ignore this message at your own risk.”
ChiefPriest concluded by urging both Tinubu and Uzodinma to move swiftly to appeal the judgment and secure Kanu’s release, warning that failure to do so would have dire political consequences.
