American rap icon Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, widely known as Nicki Minaj, has issued a passionate plea for international action to stop what she described as the ongoing persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
Speaking at a United States Mission to the United Nations event focused on ending religious violence, Minaj emphasized that her advocacy was grounded in humanity, not political alignment or division. She stressed that no community should suffer attacks simply because of its beliefs.
“This isn’t about choosing sides,” Minaj declared. “It’s about confronting injustice wherever it appears. It’s about standing firm for the values I’ve always believed in—unity, dignity, and the right for everyone to practice their faith without fear.”
The rapper also expressed appreciation to U.S. President Donald Trump for drawing attention to the situation, noting his calls for heightened international pressure to address violence against Christians in Nigeria.
Minaj referenced Trump’s recent warnings, in which he labelled Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over reported religious attacks. In earlier remarks, Trump urged Nigerian authorities to act swiftly, even suggesting potential U.S. intervention if the violence continued.
