Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa (retired), held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Monday evening at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, marking his first publicised interaction with the Presidency since his retirement on October 24, 2025.
According to reports, Musa arrived at the State House at exactly 7:03 p.m. and was escorted into the President’s office wing by a senior security official. Clad in a dark-green, northern-styled traditional outfit with elbow-length sleeves, the former defence chief made his way into the Villa without addressing the press.
As of press time, the motive behind the meeting had not been revealed, sparking speculation given the growing security challenges in Northern Nigeria.
In recent weeks, parts of the North-West and North-Central have witnessed disturbing incidents, including the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, an assault on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State, and the kidnapping of Catholic schoolchildren in Minna.
Security formations across the affected regions have since intensified counter-terrorism operations, deploying additional troops, rapid-response units, and intelligence teams to key hotspots.
Meanwhile, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has assured that efforts are underway to safely recover the children kidnapped from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwarra LGA of Niger State.

Ribadu offered these assurances during a visit to Niger on Monday, where he met with the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Most Rev. Bulus Yohanna, as well as families of the abducted children at St. Michael’s Catholic Cathedral in Kontagora.
