Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Sunday made a notable visit to the Sokoto Correctional Centre, where he met with Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The visit was revealed by Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, who shared the development in a Facebook post. Ejimakor, visibly pleased by the governor’s gesture, commended Otti for honouring a promise made earlier.

“Thank you for keeping your word and visiting your brother, MAZI NNAMDI KANU,” Ejimakor wrote. “You have shown integrity and rare courage. May God bless you.”

He further expressed optimism that the governor’s visit could mark the beginning of renewed efforts toward resolving Kanu’s long-standing detention. “May this significant visit to Sokoto signal the first step toward ending this undeserved ordeal, sooner rather than later,” he added.
